Technical Installation Instructions:
Steel Dress

Please read these instructions carefully before proceeding with the installation of the panel(s).

Steel Dress is an indoor magnetic wall-covering system designed for quick, clean installation without the need for heavy equipment. The thermal stability of indoor environments ensures the long-term integrity of the fixing.

1. SUBSTRATE (WALL) ANALYSIS

The system's load-bearing capacity depends on the type of surface to which it is applied:

  • Plaster: Must be of excellent quality, perfectly smooth, fully cured and securely bonded to the wall (free from bubbles or hollow-sounding areas).

  • Tiles: Steel Dress can be installed directly over existing wall coverings. Tiles must be intact and thoroughly degreased to remove any traces of grease, steam residue or limescale.

Cleaning of the surface: Prior to installation, ensure the wall is completely dry and free from dust.

2. PANEL PREPARATION

Cleaning the back side: The back of Steel Dress panels features a protective primer (back-coat). Clean this surface thoroughly with a cloth soaked in alcohol or degreaser to ensure maximum chemical effectiveness of the adhesive.

Safety: Always handle the panels using certified protective gloves; the edges of the panel can be sharp.

3. FIXING CONFIGURATIONS

Depending on the format and application, follow the correct procedure:

  • Large formats (e.g. 3005x1250 mm): To counteract the pull-off force of the magnetic accessories, a hybrid fixing method is required. In addition to the adhesive, drill two holes in the top corners to insert screws and wall plugs (mechanical safety fixing).

  • Kitchen splashbacks and small formats: If the panel is secured at the top by wall units or other architectural features, holes or screws are not required. Stability is fully ensured by the interlocking fit and the adhesive.

4. ADHESIVE APPLICATION AND INSTALLATION

Type of adhesive: Use exclusively high-tack MS-polymer-based assembly adhesive.

Distribution: Apply the adhesive to the back of the panel in vertical beads spaced approximately 15 cm apart. Never seal the perimeter with adhesive, in order to allow proper ventilation.

Support: Position the panel so that it rests on the floor or the kitchen worktop, if possible.

Stabilisation

  • For large formats: Fix the safety screws on the top.

  • For small formats/splashbacks: Use masking tape along the perimeter to hold the panel in position during the first few hours of drying.

5. ATTACHING THE ACCESSORIES

After applying uniform pressure across the entire surface, wait 48 hours before applying any magnetic accessories. This time is necessary for the adhesive to fully cure and stabilise.
